Once stodgy and boring, business-to-business marketing is now undergoing the biggest changes we’ve ever seen.
According to veteran marketer Bob Bly, here are the 7 hottest trends in B2B:
1. Online video
Online video is exploding because of YouTube and cheap video cameras.
2. Social media
B2B marketers are now using Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Plus, and Pinterest to build their brands and generate leads cost-effectively.
Blogs have transformed into a legitimate B2B marketing tool.
A HubSpot study found that businesses that blog have 55% more web site visitors – and 92% of companies that blogged multiple times daily acquired a customer through their blog.
Some people love them, some don’t, but infographics are increasingly popular in B2B marketing for displaying visual content.
5. Marketing automation
More and more B2B marketers are relying on technology to generate, nurture, score, and qualify leads … and drive sales.
6. Lead nurturing
Once a lead is generated, it is cultivated with additional marketing messages to qualify the lead further — and guide them toward a purchase.
7. Organic search
In the old days, most marketing was outbound: Direct mail, ads, PR, telemarketing, technical publications, etc.
Today much of B2B marketing is inbound, with prospects coming to us, rather than we going to them, driven mostly by content found by search engines.
